BOB LUNDWALL'S 1964 GRAND PRIX - 100 0850

Bob Lundwall was building this 6 speed Grand Prix when the term "Pro Touring" was just a glimmer in Jeff Smith's eye! I'm going to hound Bob for as many photos of this build-up as possible. For those of you that recognize the name, Bob is the founder of RetroMotive--the company that brought us 15" rims for our 8 lug drums!

The passenger side shows the relocated oil filter. The intake is an early 60's Pontiac aluminum super duty. The carbs are 500CFM Edelbrocks, each topped with a 9 inch K&N filter. An interesting note: the carbs are only about 8 inches apart so the filter bases had to be offset and the filter studs bent so the filters would fit. Progressive throttle linkage was fabricated from stainless stock. Note the linkage for the cruise control along side the rear carb. The engine is a 64 421 deck plate bored to 432 cu. in. The pistons are dished and yield a 9.5 to 1 compression ratio. The 1964 "'716" heads are ported, the exhaust crossovers welded shut, hardened valve seats and a muli angle valve job. The cam is a Crane blueprint 068 driven by an Edelbrock gear drive, advanced 3 1/2 degrees. All the engine work was done by Whitmore Engine Service. The object of this engine/drive train combo is low engine cruising RPM and hopefully good fuel milage.
